When two people get married whether in a civil ceremony or religious one, it is called a wedding; marriage is no longer the province of male/female relationships. Marriage is still a legal contract despite the religious background; it is not recognized as complete until the marriage license is signed. Traditionally, the woman getting married is the bride and the man the bridegroom usually abbreviated to groom; once they are married they known as the wife and husband.
