Training for Life

Tips to help you keep motivated and enjoy the lifetime benefits of training.

About half the people who begin an exercise program quit during the first year. To help make sure you don’t get bored, and to motivate you to continue, here are four tips:

Make it Fun

Choose activities that you enjoy. Listen to music that helps your mind to relax. Try working out with a friend. Try cross training, since adding variety helps most people.

Set Achievable Goals

Make increases in fitness in small steps. If you’re not sure how to do this realistically, consider seeing a trainer. Avoid overdoing things.

Nutrition - Desserts

Eating a healthy dessert doesn’t have to break the bank. While it’s true that Twinkies and Ding-Dongs do cost less (in dollars) than quality healthy foods, the cost to our health is truly frightening!

Follow these tips for low-cost healthy desserts:

1) Try fruit! Full of natural sugars, and naturally fat free, fruit is a great dessert choice! Fresh kiwi, apples, pears, plums and oranges can all be found for about 50 cents per serving.

2) Fat-free pudding costs only 79 cents per box and is quite low in calories!

Scuba Diving - The Best Fitness Program Ever

These days you can find all sorts of fitness programs in books, sports magazines and even on the Internet but there are no more than five good programs available for scuba divers and of these four out of five are almost the same, the routines are very similar.

After doing some serious research on what could be the best fitness program for a scuba diver, I found Crossfit and I think is the best. Why? As defined in their website, Crossfit is a core strength and conditioning program. This program is used to train police and military departments across the world, what is more interesting; I also found that the Navy Seals use this program as one the main fitness programs for their scuba divers.
