Fats and oils are the most important supplements of our daily diet as they are major source of fats and carbohydrates. When it comes to fats and carbohydrates eating, people become excessively conscious about the cholesterol levels in the body. Fats are actually very important, as they are the food supplements that maintain the energy levels in the body. What is even more fascinating is that fats are important for keeping body warm.

Baby Boomers - A Healthcare Crisis Nears

Baby boomers are quickly approaching retirement age, and as they do, there are a number of concerns that need to be addressed, particularly in the area of healthcare. Unfortunately, there appears to be no easy answers to the healthcare problems that baby boomers, and the population in general, will face in the very near future.

Baby Boomers are people who were born between 1946 and 1964. During this period of time the United States of America saw an explosion in birthrates that had never been seen before and nothing like it has been seen since. Today, baby boomers make up approximately 28% of the total United States of America population.

Ten Innovation Trends At Stanford Media X- Robotics, Aging, Clean Tech, Brain, Gaming, Science, More

The goal of Stanford University Media X is to foster collaborations between industry and academia. The 5th Annual Media X Conference on Research, Collaboration, Innovation and Productivity, which I was fortunate to attend, served its purpose well. Let me share the 10 Key Trends that every business executive and innovator should be paying attention to:

1) Personal Robotics is poised to explode soon (predicted by Paul Saffo). It usually takes 20 years science basic science exists until applications reach inflection point and take the world by storm-and we are about to see that happen. Some indicators: DARPA sponsored first robotics attempts in mid-80s, and now we have applications such as the Roomba vacuum-cleaner, and a fully automated racing car. Prof. Kenneth Salisbury showed how there are robots today with great motor skills-i.e., they can unload a dishwasher!

Depression In The Elderly

Depression in the elderly, undiagnosed and untreated, causes needless suffering for the family and for the individual who could otherwise live a fruitful life. When he or she does go to the doctor, the symptoms described are usually physical, for the older person is often reluctant to discuss feelings of hopelessness, sadness, loss of interest in normally pleasurable activities, or extremely prolonged grief after a loss.

Make Sound Choices

10 years ago, I began to realize that it was time for me to use my gifts to help others. I didn’t want to do it…that wasn’t the life that I choose for me!

10 years ago, I was recovering from a serious car accident and living at home with my parents. I remember my frustrations, anger and fears and sharing these emotions with my MOM as I was looking for answers that were going to get me on the path that I wanted to take… to be on TV and in the Theater. I just knew that I had to Keep going…Keep going…Keep going.

Introduction To Long Term Care Insurance

There are many different forms of insurance available to the average person. Long term care insurance is designed to take in the cost of an aging society.

Of all of the various elements of the personal financial planning process, risk management and insurance is both the least enjoyable to consider and the most important to consider. There is nothing as certain as the uncertainty of life. No matter how much money you are earning or how wisely you are investing it, a sudden disaster can knock all of your careful plans over like a stack of blocks. Insurance is the most common method of managing these uncertainties and making sure that yourself and the people who depend on you are protecting as much as is possible.

Aromatherapy And Flying High

One of the healthiest ways to enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy, is when flying.

Certain essential oils have the remarkable ability to enhance our body’s natural immunity.

When used wisely, they make an excellent preventative tool.

Whenever we fly commercially, the air that we breath is simply recycled - leaving us susceptible to all types of airborne “bugga-boo’s.”

Personally, I’ve actually experienced getting on a plane feeling perfectly healthy, however an hour into the flight, my throat began feeling scratchy and sore. By time I got to the hotel… I had a full-blown cold - Blah!
